Busy Bee`s Bagel & Bakery in La Jolla

Late Yelp Post (1/23/2016):One of my favorite go-to places for a quick bite to eat in the morning. I love their chorizo burrito, and ham&cheese croissant sandwiches! They make fresh orange juice but it's a bit pricey. My boyfriend and I always come here for a well done breakfast bagel and burrito. He gets the breakfast bagel and I get the chorizo (with egg and cheese) burrito. They are both delicious! I cannot get enough of their freshly squeezed orange juice machine, although I feel like the machine wastes more oranges than needed. Their hot chocolate is also exceptional!

I don't know who is writing these positive reviews, but the food is mediocre at best. Coupled with the fact that the place was not clean, and these are some of the rudest people in the area, I'm just surprised they can manage to stay in business. I would give no stars if that were possible. Honestly, the whole experience was incredibly unpleasant. 😢

Been going there for years Jalapeno cheese with jalapeno cream cheese And the rueben on a Onion bagel are my staples.

Some of the best bagels in La Jolla. Service is quick and they have a nice variety of bagels to choose from.

I'm a stickler for wanting real ceramic mugs, but no luck at this place. Latte was good and the breakfast burrito was to, plus really big, but I just didn't like the vibe.

All around great place. Best bagels in the area and a great selection of sandwiches to choose from. Eat outside or small dining space inside. Get em to go and sit on the beach!

Best bakery in la Jolla !! I love their bagels, tuna melt it's my favorite to go for lunch. Their cinnamon rolls are amazing, and their double chocolate muffins are to die for!!! Overall this is my fave place to go for a quick bite and a nice mocha.

Very busy at 8am on a Sunday and had great breakfest sandwiches/burritos.

They charge to toast your bagel and even more to spread butter. Lady doesn't know how to serve coffee.

Wonderful place to go to breakfast!!! They've got such a huge selection of breakfast food. The ladies that work there work their workmso dang hard!!! Please always tip them because they deserve it! Won't go anywhere else for breakfast when we're in town!! I love them and I love their food!!

Not a fan of the coffee or bagels here. Quality is low, price is high

Their prices are about the same as Einstein's, but they don't even measure up to that lackluster standard in terms of taste. Their bagels taste like bread that's been shaped to look like a bagel. Not any better than what you could get at the freezer section in the grocery store. Heck, even Von's bakery tastes better than these!

We just moved to the area. I just don't get these reviews. You people never eaten bagels in your life. This is the worst bagels I have ever eat in my life. Place is not clean, worst customer service and bagel? Bottom was burnt a little and what is it with the corn flour? Real disappointed.

Great bagels at a great price. Near the beach and the spot where the boys hang out. I'm also really glad they got rid of the curb in the back. Now I don't have to worry about those darn skateboarders hitting me or my car when I drive by Kappa

Use to love this place . I ordered three bagels and it was the thinnest layer of cream cheese. It was like eating a big piece of bread. Seriously I put more butter on my bagel. Had taken to beach but should Have checked prior. Won't be back!!!!

Wonderful selection of bagels and muffins and sweet rolls. Great coffees especially the mocha. They make your bagel as you want and quickly. Lovely outdoor seating.

Yummy bagels and fast service.

Bagels are offensively bad. Service is hit or miss but usually friendly. 90% of the time your bagel will be untoasted. 8% it's burnt. 2% of the time it's alright. Also, pretty ridiculous amount to charge for a bad bagel. Better to go across the street to La Clochette for good coffee, better service and better pastry.

I think i got handed a kids meal by mistake because the bagel was the size of a cheerio. Certainly not worth $7 . Also, i wanted lox but all they have is a "lox spread" . i tried to inquire as to what that is but they lady behind the counter had difficulty articulating things. I will be avoiding this place in the future .

The cranberry orange muffin was so delicious. Almost as good as the 1st one I ever had in upstate New York. That one was homemade. They aren't stingy with their "shmear" on the bagels either. Yes too many vmcarbs in one day. Totally worth it. Oh and the fresh squeezed OJ, yummy.

Fantastic Bagels, great spreads. Usually there is a wait on the weekend, but worth it.

The owner Lee did not exhange bagels for my 2 children from regular cream cheese to strawberry and upcharged us $1.20, told her my son ordered strawberry. Lee accused my 11 year old son of lying. Wow...

Life hack: Call ahead. This place gets packed in the morning. The turkey avocado is dank.

I use to love this place but over the years their bagel quality has gone down and so has their service. The amount of cream cheese is minimal even if you buy extra. They also surcharge for every purchase.

Super dooper delicious! FRESH food served up by super friendly counter team. CONSISTENTLY excellent. Grab your breakfast goodness to go... head a block West to the beach and Life Is Great!
